3 Common Branding Myths

There are a lot of misconceptions about branding. Branding it’s just there to make your business look nice, it’s actually a really powerful tool that can help you grow, connect with your audience and communicate particular messages.

  1. "I don’t need to invest in branding until I have an established brand” - The truth is, the earlier you can invest in branding, the better. Branding is an incredibly powerful thing that can help grow your audience, reach your goals and establish your brand. If you find that your business isn’t growing and your audience isn’t too engaged in your content, it’s probably because you don’t have cohesive and strategic branding.

  2. “My logo is my brand” - Your brand is so much more than the icon that you use for your Instagram profile picture. Your logo has no power until you combine it with a colour palette, typography, brand marks and more.

  3. “The most important thing is that my brand matches my style and tastes” - Unless you plan to market your business to yourself, this could not be further from the truth. The best way to be subjective about your brand identity is by doing deep research into your target audience and creating audience personas. This allows you to view the design from their point of view and see it from a different perspective.
