Website Design: Do’s & Don’ts

These are the key things that can make or break a website:

Do’s

  • Accessible fonts - make sure the fonts you use can be easily read

  • Easy to navigate homepage - can your audience easily find what they’re looking for?

  • SEO keywords - keywords are what helps your ranking in search engines

  • Complimentary colours - use your brand colour palette to build brand recognition

  • Call to actions - is it clear for your audience to find how to access your offering?

Don’ts

  • Inconsistency - ensure fonts, fonts sizes, image sizes etc are consistent across all pages

  • Large chunks of copy - large paragraphs will bore your audience and important information can get lost

  • Hard to navigate - check that your website flows

  • Low quality imagery - no one likes a blurry photo!

  • No call to actions - if your audience cannot find what you’re offering, they will leave your site
