London. Where to begin. Air pollution? Rising crime? Or the fact that everywhere is bustling with ambition and inspiration is around every corner?
Being a small town girl makes me stick out like a sore thumb in this big city where everyone seems to be on auto-pilot wherever they go. I stand on the sidewalk in awe of the architecture, actually enjoy my daily commute on the tube and say thanks when people let me cross the road - manners being something most Londoner's lack.
My personal style has changed drastically. I have gone from someone who only ever wears black with perhaps an accent of grey, hoping to just blend into the crowd, to someone who wears metallic silver platforms and has neon nails. That's what I love about this city. Every day brings a new chance to reinvent yourself, a new style is there to be tried, and people don't stand and gawk at you if you actually wear colour - in fact, I would probably stand out if I didn't.
I have grown up never being more than 5 minutes away from the sea, but living in London has made me realise that isn't where I want to be forever. Yes, I love spending long days at the beach, but I also love the hustle and bustle of the city life, and London is the place for that. There's no judgement, no finger-pointing and no gossiping about what that girl is wearing. People's individual style is celebrated, encouraged by peers and it's give me a chance to discover the sort of person I want to be without the worry of what other's will think.
I am so happy I moved to London. I love the lifestyle here, the people, the streets and the ideas. I feel inspired, I feel motivated, I feel at home. London is about being yourself, 'cause no one can tell you you're doing it wrong.
Here's to ambition both raw and developed; to style that's legendary and burgeoning; to generations on the cusp of dreams and other's still living out the fantasy. You're in the city of dreams.
